As the late afternoon light outside the library windows slowly gave way to early evening's darkness, students began to wander in, placing themselves down in between rows of books for what would undoubtedly be a long night for them all. Dinner was now over, and that meant only one thing for Hogwarts students at this time of year--studying, studying, and yet more studying. There were exams to prepare for, for even if you did not have to be assessed for a larger purpose in your year, there was still much to be done.

That was the exact reason why every evening like this found Amelia Bones in the school library as she was now, making good of her time by stuffing her nose in a textbook. At her side was a list of all the things that would be on her exams, her Arithmancy and Magical Healing textbooks, several rolls of parchment, ink, and her quills...and a bag of sugar quills as well, just for energy's sake.

Sighing, she broke off a piece of that candy and popped it into her mouth as she opened up the Arithmancy book. She had eaten dinner, of course, but not much and now she was mildly regretting it. Taking out a bit of parchment and her real quill, she got to work. The best way for her to study would be to make study notes, she imagined, and so that's what she set out to do.

James, making one of his rare appearances in the library (well, at least in the proper hours, anyway) approached Amelia upon seeing her, and gave her a grin. "Is that food I see? I'm starved."
Amelia looked up and nodded at James, motioning for him to sit down. "Yes, and I'll share if you'll be a bit quieter about it," she told him, matching his grin. The Ravenclaw took a few quills out of her bag and placed them in front of him, then shifted it back out of sight. Madame Pince would have her head if she saw that she was eating candy around her precious books.
James grinned at her and mouthed his thanks before taking a sugar quill off the table. Munching, he asked,"So, what are all the books for?"
"Well, I hoped that much would be obvious," she said playfully. "Studying, of course. I'm making study notes for myself."
"Study notes? What in the blazers are those?" James joked with a good humoured laugh.
Amelia rolled her eyes and laughed at him. "Really now. You should learn to take them, especially with your N.E.W.T.s coming up," she gave him a mock-stren look. "Cockiness won't get you through them."
He laughed back. "Oh, you never know where my cockiness can get you these day." He grinned at his little joke.
"Now, now," Amelia said, raising an eyebrow. "That wasn't a very polite joke." Merely acting scandalized, she waggled a finger at him. "Young man, don't make me have to wash your mouth out. A boy your age shouldn't be thinking such things."
James laughed at her acting, and raised an eyebrow back. "Surely you'd know that that's the only thing boys my age think about. That and Quidditch."
"Surely there are some that don't think the same as you," she said, thinking of one in particular. "But even if you're thinking it, you don't have to necessecarily say it, do you?"
James did a little bow. "Alas, you are right. Ladies should not hear of such things!"
"Somehow I have a feeling that won't stop you from saying them," she said, raising her eyebrows.
James grinned. "True!"
She sighed and rolled her eyes. "I knew it."
